Unity Principles for Everyday Living from the Spiritual Café of the South Jersey Shore -Unity

As we are entering into a new year, if you are like me, I begin to think about the year that is passing by and look to embracing the upcoming one with joy and renewed hope. At the Spiritual Café of the South Jersey Shore - Unity, we draw inspiration from the Unity movement—a practical, heart-centered spiritual path that can assist us in living even more consciously, lovingly, and purposefully. As we step into 2026, these Principles offer more than inspiration; they give us tools to co-create a life aligned with our deepest values.

Here are a few foundational Unity Principles—and how they support us right now:

1. There is One Presence and One Power—active in all life.

Unity teaches that the same Divine Intelligence that shapes the tides and lights the sun lives within us. When we remember this, we move through life with greater trust. We stop forcing outcomes and begin cooperating with Divine Order—which is especially helpful when setting intentions for a new year.

2. We and everyone are inherently whole and worthy.

Unity affirms our spiritual identity as already complete. From this awareness, we no longer create from fear or lack. Instead, we make choices—from relationships to goals to self-care—that honor our true worth and invite healthier outcomes.

3. Thoughts held in mind produce after their kind.

This Principle invites conscious co-creation. What we consistently think, feel, and affirm, shapes our experience. As we move into 2026, Unity encourages us to cultivate thoughts of possibility, compassion, and Faith—knowing they become the blueprint for our lived reality.

4. Prayer and meditation align us with Divine Wisdom.

Unity’s practice of affirmative prayer is not about pleading and begging—it is about remembering Truth. Through prayer and meditation, we attune to inner guidance and allow inspired action to arise naturally. We transform our consciousness.

5. It’s not enough to know Truth—we live it.

Unity is a lived spirituality. When we embody kindness, integrity, and Love in everyday moments, we become active partners in creating a better world—starting right where we are. We therefore are conscious of our thoughts, beliefs, words, and actions. Through intention, we can choose to live from the Truth of who we are: One with God/Spirit/Divine/Whatever Name or No Name you choose to represent the Creative Power that underlies all, and lives through, in and as us.
